A Magical Thanksgiving Table
Make your next Thanksgiving feast about more than just the meal! A natural seasonal theme at Thanksgiving sets the mood for the day and is the perfect opportunity to feature and admire your prized fall harvest.
Centerpiece
Consider a low profile arrangement such as a cornucopia stuffed with fruits, vegetables, nuts, leaves, and even pinecones. The cornucopia symbolizes abundance and is the perfect adornment to accompany an event such as a Thanksgiving feast.
Meat and Cheese Board
An engaging substitute for a centerpiece is a charcuterie - a sampler platter centered around meats and cheeses that can also include a contrast of flavors and textures like nuts, crackers, breads, fruits, spreads and dipping sauces. This colorful display of ready to select bites is attractive enough to command the attention of a centerpiece and serves as an appetizer platter, particularly functional for gatherings in small spaces.

There is no better way to add interest to a dish than to include a little garnish. Fall herbs like parsley, thyme, and rosemary stay fresh in the garden most years through the month of November for one final harvest. Take a few clippings to tuck in a corner of a serving dish, and insert a sprig on place settings, plates, or napkins. For more garnishing ideas, see my other post called, Feel Free to Garnish.
While the meal is the main event, the décor offers a way to wrap your guests in the spirit of the season. Wishing you and yours a happy Thanksgiving.
